Roger Federer has announced that he will not enter the Miami Open on account of a stomach virus.
The 17 time Grand Slam champion has not competed for two months because of a torn meniscus in his left knee. Federer underwent surgery to repair the meniscus last month. He said yesterday that he had sustained the injury while running a bath for his twin daughters. The Swiss great had traveled to Miami ahead of the tournament. In a statement, he expressed regret for the tournament and fans in Miami, and said that he had felt bad for several days, and unfortunately his illness had worsened over time. Next on Federer's schedule is the Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo, starting on 9th April. |
