Dial back to August 2015. Juan Monaco had just undergone wrist surgery and his season was in the bin. Move forward a full six months and he was only just back on the ATP tour.
Amazingly, within just a few further weeks, the repaired wrist was helping him to hoist the Fayez Sarofim & Co US Men’s Clay Court Championship trophy into the Houston sky. He beat the US rising star Jack Sock in a three-setter, 7-5 in the third, and took out his second victory in the city, having previously won there back in 2012. It was also his first title for almost three years, so it's no wonder that he said that: 'No words to describe this moment'. Can we suggest: 'Terrific comeback, go Juan!'?
